Wedding Pendennis Castle Cornwall Classical Strings

String Trio play at the magical Pendennis Castle.

On a bright and slightly windswept afternoon, the Classical Strings Trio performed at a wedding at Pendennis Castle in Falmouth.

Our Trio always fit perfectly in the alcove where the ceremony takes place, which is situated in the Lower Gun Room. The flickering candles and fairy lights create the perfect setting for a ceremony filled with a spark of magic in the air. The sound of our strings compliments the historic atmosphere of the castle, and is a welcoming start to the proceedings as the guests arrive over the stone bridge, and through the arched doorway to the Gun Room.

Music from Bach’s Brandenburg’s Concerto created a stirring and regal ambience as the guests took to their seats and got ready for the ceremony to start.

The Bride chose ‘Spring’ from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons for her Entry music, and during the Signing of the Register, we played Bach’s Air on the G String, Mozart’s Turkish Rondo and Boccherini’s Minuet.

The classical mood suited the ceremony perfectly, and added a timeless feel to the fairy tale wedding. Finally, the Bride and Groom took their Exit to Handel’s Le Rejouissance from the Royal Fireworks Music.

During the drinks reception, we performed a special request by the Bride – Elgar’s Salut d’Amour – which is a truly romantic piece of music. Our music then became more contemporary and included my arrangement of ‘Ho Hey’ by the Lumineers.

Once the drinks had finished, it was time for the guests to make their way across to the Royal Artillery Barracks. After a short break, we were ready to play once more as the guests lined up for their meal. We entertained everyone with our classic love songs from musicals and films, and a lovely time was had by all!
